May 2010 - Phillip Barengolts of CIPA Founder Pattishall, McAuliffe, Newbury, Hilliard & Geraldson, LLP posted "Second Circuit Rules against J.D. Salinger, Invalidates Presumption of Irreparable Harm when Considering Preliminary Injunctions in Copyright Cases" on the firm Blog.
April 2010 - The John Marshall Law School will host "Ethics in the Practice of Intellectual Property Law" Friday, April 30, 2010 from 9am to 1:30pm. The event will provide four hours of CLE credit.
March 2010 - Professor Mickie A. Piatt of The Chicago Kent Law School Professor Piatt was honored by the Intellectual Property Law Society at its annual alumni reception on March 24. Professor Piatt was awarded the Society's Distinguished Faculty Award.
20 March 2010 - Gina Bucknell, Marshall, Gerstein & Borun, LLP, will be presenting at a session on "Strategies to Get Licensees to Pay" at the AUTM 2010 Annual Meeting, March 18-20, 2010, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The program will explore common issues in license drafting and management with respect to payment, reporting, and audit requirements. The AUTM meeting is a three-day educational conference that draws from the global community of technology transfer professionals, researchers and other intellectual property experts.
3 February 2010 - Ashly Iacullo of CIPA Founder Pattishall, McAuliffe, Newbury, Hilliard & Geraldson, LLP moderated the Intellectual Property Law Judges Panel featuring prominent U.S. judges discussing changes in patent, copyright, and trademark law.
January 2010 - The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin reported that CIPA Founder McAndrews Held & Malloy Ltd. received a contract from the National Institutes of Health that could last up to 10 years. Mike Harlin, current CIPA president and a shareholder in the firm, was involved in obtaining the contract.

June 2009 - CIPA founder Dolores Hanna has been inducted into the IP Hall of Fame 2008 at the Gala Dinner held 22 June 2009. The Academy cites Ms. Hanna as "the first female president of the International Trademark Association and a highly influential figure in the development of trademark law and practice across the world."
Ms. Hanna provided the inspiration for the Chicago Intellectual Property Alliance and has worked tirelessly to promote its programs and activities.
The formal induction was held in Chicago. It is part of the IP Business Congress™ Annual Event for Global IP Leaders. A large group was in attendance to honor Ms. Hanna. The pictures below are from the festivities.

2008 - CIPA President-Elect, Mike Harlin, McAndrews Held & Malloy, has been named one of the "40 Under 40" attorneys in Illinois.
2008 - Jeff Handelman, Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, won the prestigious Burton award for a law firm compendium. His two-volume treatise is Guide to TTAB Practice published by Aspen Publishers. It provides analysis of the procedural and substantive issues that arise in trademark cases, with particular emphasis on TTAB proceedings.
